Backyard Beekeeping 101 Workshop

Keen on having a backyard beehive but not sure where to start/what is involved?

The ancient art of beekeeping has had such a big resurgence in the past few years and can be a very rewarding and eye-opening experience! As gardeners, we know the true value of having bees in our yards for pollination, but they are also a key part of our ecosystem, not to mention producers of delicious honey!

Join Scott Denno & Amanda Collins from Backyard Beekeeping Ballarat, who are experts in all things bees, beekeeping, honey, honey related products, and health/hygiene of beehives for the urban beekeeper.

In this one-hour workshop on Sun 23 Oct at Green Space Hall*, you will learn about Scott and Amanda’s own beekeeping journey, in a relaxed gathering with fellow total newbie beekeepers, to help you learn what’s involved in beekeeping. This will assist you exploring if it’s a path you’d be keen to go down, making it the perfect workshop for the total newbies or the curious alike.

Or maybe you have beehives, but keen to learn so much more. Here’s your chance!

Topics covered:

  • What you need to know to get started
  • Beekeeper registration, Apiary Code of Practice and Biosecurity
  • Education & Training
  • Hives, tools & protective equipment
  • Beekeeping though the seasons

And there will be a Q&A session at the end – so you can ask all of your bee related questions in a supportive environment.

The world of bees and beehives is truly fascinating, please join us for Beekeeping 101 with Scott & Amanda from Backyard Beekeeping Ballarat.
