Celebrating a decade of food security, and food security education in Ballarat/Wadawurrung calls for a big party. Which is exactly what local not-for-profit Food Is Free Inc. has got planned for this coming October!

Stay tuned for all the details for a series of special events covering the period of Sat 12 Oct to Sun 20 Oct which will cover not only many spaces, but stack of fun activities. And as always, Food Is Free Inc. are inviting you all to the party.

These include:

Sat 12 Oct: Meet The Food Is Free Inc. Green Team, 10am – noon at Food Is Free Inc. Green Space (212 Ripon St Sth);

Sun 13 Oct: Food Is Free Inc. Green Space Tour with Food Is Free Inc. Founder/Director Lou Ridsdale, from 10am;

Mon 14 – Sun 20 Oct: Mixed Media Exhibition of 10 Years of Food Is Free Inc. at Barkly Square, open during business hours, Free Entry;

Date/Time TBC: Meet The Grow & Thrive Team at Barkly Square – Multicultural garden launch in BRMC courtyard;

Little Growers & Deadly Sprouts combined session – Sebastopol Library with Morning Tea on the deck garden, 10am – 11am;

Fri 18 Oct – Official birthday celebrations – Join the Food Is Free Inc. team at Barkly Square for birthday cake + a free workshops afternoon (3 workshops – worm farms/soil health, terrariums after school activity, plus small space gardening), 2pm – 4pm;

Sat 19 Oct – Come Volunteer with Food Is Free Inc. your choice of joining our Tomato Potting up party, weed dating (instead of speed dating), ripping up egg cartons, and other activities…plus join our How to volunteer session 101 (with Vols Manager + Current Vols speaking) | Green Space, 2pm – 3.30pm

Sun 20 Oct – CELEBRATE 10 YEARS OF FOOD IS FREE INC… 10am – 3pm

• starting with Yarning Garden Official Launch at 10am. Smoking ceremony, Welcome To Country, speeches, followed by workshops from 10.30am – 3pm.

• Official Food Is Free Inc. Birthday celebrations from 11am (music/speeches/special announcements, plus tour of new Urban Food Farm space, followed by a BBQ lunch for all. Food Is Free Inc. Market stall held at Barkly Square instead of usual Green Space market for today only – 10am – noon. Special guests: TBA.

• Workshops and garden demos for rest of day sprinkled throughout the space hosted by both Food Is Free Inc. vols and First Nations Women’s Yarning Garden members | Barkly Square, noon – 3pm

• Event Ends: 3pm.

The Festival of Food Is Free Inc.  will be an exciting week-long celebration of 10 years of Food Is Free Inc. in Ballarat/Wadawurrung.
